Helping

Projects such as the free Fun Day Out for families with young children, having a budget cooking workshop with SuperGrans and supporting the Alzheimer’s Society with their summer fete, all helping others in the community while we enjoyed the fellowship of Zonta.

Making

Making satin breast cushions and “knitted knockers” for women who have had a mastectomy, fish ‘n chip jerseys and warm hats for local Plunket and sending many little jerseys overseas, and sewing cot blankets and sheets for Pregnancy Help are just some of the ways we have come together to help others.

Gardening

Some projects have been tidying gardens at the Dunedin Night Shelter, planting a vegetable garden at a primary school, and planting native flaxes and grasses on the Peninsula to help regenerate habitat for nesting penguins.

Supporting

We raise funds to support women and girls in education and study. Some of the recipients of the funds have included a high school girl learning the guitar, a young mother studying to be a personal trainer, and a mature student going to Polytech for the first time.

Foster Hope Charitable Trust

Foster Hope is an organisation that believes every child in care deserves to know that their community cares about them. Zonta New Zealand has chosen Foster Hope as its recipient of funds and support for the next two years. Our Club in Otepoti Dunedin has worked with Juanita at a local level in the past and we are looking forward to supporting her again.
