Zonta Club of Metropolitan Dunedin
The Zonta Club of Metropolitan Dunedin and special guests celebrated the 50th International Women’s Day on 8 March.
First marked by the United Nations in 1975, the theme for this year’s IWD is ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress’ and we are proud that all proceeds after costs of our 2024 breakfast will go to our STEM scholarship, investing in the next generation of young women.
Held in the stunning Heritage Room at the Southern Cross Hotel, a seated breakfast and ‘in conversation’ talk with Dr Margot Skinner of the School of Physiotherapy and Sarah Munro of Company of Strangers, with our own Bex Twemlow.
We are a friendly group of about 25 women who meet on the first Tuesday of each month (except January) for a dinner meeting, listen to an interesting speaker, and discuss club matters such as fundraising, fellowship and assessing any applications from women that we may be able to support.

Vision
Zonta International envisions a world where women’s rights are recognised as human rights and every woman is able to achieve her full potential. In such a world, women have access to all resources and are represented in decision making on an equal basis with men.
