It was recently confirmed that Foster Hope Charitable Trust has been chosen as District 16 New Zealand’s national project for the next two years. Foster Hope believes that every child in care deserves to know that their community cares about them. They provide the children with a backpack of essential items, which are a symbol of support and love for both the children and their caregivers.
Many of these children arrive at their new placements with little more than the clothes on their backs. Our backpacks bring a little hope into what is a very stressful time in their life. Metropolitan Dunedin Club is very pleased with this choice as we have supported Foster Hope in the past. Members have joined together to fill backpacks ready to give to children when they go to their new placements. We have brought essential items to club meetings, such as toiletries, underwear, books and toys. Our members are looking forward to planning activities to fundraise for Foster Hope and getting together to help in many more practical ways.
