May was our Annual General Meeting, where we welcomed our new President Anne, new Secretary Deepi and returning Treasurer Jan. New and returning committee chairs are Jane and Kathryn co-chairing the Service committee, Jo chairing the United Nations and Advocacy committee and Phillipa as chair of the Membership and Fellowship committee. Last year’s chairs presented their reports of the activities during the year.
We had Vicky Barnett speak to us about her healing journey and how putting her thoughts on paper helped her come to terms with the abuse she had suffered as a child. The writings became a book which she shared with us. Her story was disturbing but we admired the way she had confronted the past and the strategies she described that helped her become the strong woman she is today. Thank you Vicki for joining us at our meeting and sharing your story.
