We welcomed this month’s speaker Emma Macfarlane, nurse practitioner specialising in sexual and reproductive health at The Women’s Health Bus Te Waka Wahine Hauora.
Emma told us about the work she and the team do on the mobile health care facility, which travels to regional locations across Otago and Southland. Delivering health care closer to women’s homes means easier access to practioners and less travelling time for those in remote areas.
We presented her with $1,000 donation from our Club and Emma told us this will enable the team to offer reduced rates for their services to people who might not otherwise access the service because of cost.
Our members were very pleased to meet Emma and support the work of the Women’s Health Bus, and we look forward to following their journey improving the health and wellbeing of women and girls.
